Don’t let other people tell you what you can and what you can’t do. Don’t let their assumptions stop you from doing what you love or what you think is best for you. Other people will always try to stop you if you decide to do something that’s different than what they are doing, because that’s how society works. Take charge of your life don’t let others make your decisions, if you believe in something, take the leap of faith and see where that leads you – if you fail, good – you gained valuable experience; if you succeed, well you succeeded. Period.

You can’t make a difference in your life until you make a decision. Just decide what is going to be, who are you going to be and how you are going to do it- that’s the first step. We are who we choose to be

4. Have a purpose

When you discover and live true to your life purpose in the highest possible way, your soul will “sing” in a way you’ve never “seen” before. It’s a feeling you’ll know when you realize it. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from, or what you do. As long as you wish to live a more meaningful and conscious life, you need to have a life purpose.

5. Be great

You will absolutely never succeed if you don’t stay committed to your decisions. Never. It took me 6 months to start earning from my blog, 6 months where I didn’t have support from my family, nor my friends, but that didn’t stop me and I managed to create one of the most successful blogs about self improvement and a Youtube channel that has generated more than 30 000 000 views and everything happened because I stayed committed.

7. Don’t be outworked

“The only thing that I see that is distinctly different about me is I’m not afraid to die on a treadmill. I will not be out-worked, period. You might have more talent than me, you might be smarter than me, you might be sexier than me, you might be all of those things you got it on me in nine categories. But if we get on the treadmill together, there’s two things: You’re getting off first, or I’m going to die. It’s really that simple, right?

You’re not going to out-work me. It’s such a simple, basic concept. The guy who is willing to hustle the most is going to be the guy that just gets that loose ball. The majority of people who aren’t getting the places they want or aren’t achieving the things that they want in this business is strictly based on hustle. It’s strictly based on being out-worked; it’s strictly based on missing crucial opportunities. I say all the time if you stay ready, you ain’t gotta get ready.”

8. Work on your skills

The separation of talent and skill is one of the greatest misunderstood concepts for people who are trying to excel, who have dreams, who want to do things. Talent you have naturally. Skill is only developed by hours and hours and hours of beating on your craft.

Most people see the outcome, they don’t see the hours that’ve gone behind it, they don’t see the hustle – they think it’s about talent, but that’s not the case. You know famous athletes that earn millions of dollars overnight – footballers, basketball players, tennis players – you think it’s all about talent? These guys have been mastering their craft since the age of 7. And I challenge you to work on your craft for 20 years as they did and see how far this gets you.

9. Let fear motivate you

F.E.A.R – ‘Forget Everything And Run‘ or ‘Face Everything And Rise.’ The choice is yours. It’s not easy to face your fears and push through them, but it’s essential in order to succeed in life.

10. Be amazing at what you do

The Mind-Body Connection
Since the body and mind are inextricably connected, every time we have a thought, we set off a cascade of cellular reactions in our nervous system that influence all the molecules in our body. Our cells are constantly observing our thoughts and being changed by them.

Take time each day to quiet your mind and meditate.

Each day eat a healthy diet that includes the six Ayurvedic tastes and a wide variety of colorful fruits and vegetables.

Next to breathing, eating is our most vital bodily function. To create a healthy body and mind, our food must be nourishing. Ideal nutrition comes from consuming a variety of foods that are appropriately prepared and eaten with awareness.

A simple way to make sure that you are getting a balanced diet is to include the six tastes (sweet, salty, sour, pungent, bitter, and astringent) in each meal. The typical American diet tends to be dominated by the sweet, sour, and salty tastes (the main flavors of a hamburger). We do need these tastes, but they can lower metabolism especially if eaten in excess.

Move your body: Engage in daily exercise.


Regular exercise offers incredible benefits for your body and mind. Drs. William Evans and Irwin Rosenberg from Tufts University have documented the powerful effect of exercise on many of the biomarkers of aging, including muscle mass, strength, aerobic capacity, bone density, and cholesterol.

Not only does exercise keep the body young, but it also keeps the mind vital and promotes emotional wellbeing. In his book Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain, Harvard University professor John Ratey, M.D. describes research showing that physical activity sparks biological changes that increase the brain’s ability to learn, adapt, and perform other cognitive tasks.  Exercise can reverse the detrimental effects of stress and lift depression.

A complete fitness program includes exercises to develop flexibility, cardiovascular conditioning, and strength training. Find an aerobic activity that you enjoy and will be able to three to four times each week for twenty to thirty minutes. After your body is warmed up, spend five to ten minutes stretching. Be sure to include strength training in your program to systematically exercise the major muscle groups of your body. The key is to start off slowly, find physical activities you like, and do them regularly. You will be surprised how quickly you increase your endurance and enthusiasm for moving and breathing.

Take time for restful sleep.


Restful sleep is essential key to having health and vital energy. When you're well-rested, you can approach stressful situations more calmly, yet sleep is so often neglected or underemphasized. There is even a tendency for people to boast about how little sleep they can get by on. In reality, over time, inadequate sleep disrupts the body’s innate balance, weakens our immune system, contributes to weight gain and depression, and speeds up the aging process.

Human beings generally need between six and eight hours of restful sleep each night. Restful sleep means that you’re not using pharmaceuticals or alcohol to get to sleep but that you’re drifting off easily once you turn off the light and are sleeping soundly through the night. If you feel energetic and vibrant when you wake up, you had a night of restful sleep. If you feel tired and unenthusiastic, you haven’t had restful sleep.You can get the highest quality sleep by keeping your sleep cycles in tune with the rhythms of the universe, known as circadian rhythms. Once you have identified what you want to release, spend some time journaling about how your life will be different when you change. 1. Have a Mission

“Energy comes from having a mission; it comes from something that you’re being pulled by, not something you’re pushing on,” Robbins told well-known business expert Marie Forleo in a one-on-one interview. “If there’s something that you’re made for, then there’s a level of energy that most people would never dream of… We all have that, but most of us don’t connect to it and unleash it.”
Robbins said he lives in this mindset each and every day. In order to apply this to your own life, it’s important to spend time thinking about what you’re really passionate about, whether it’s big or small. The more excited and the more passionate you are about your goals in life, the more powerful you can be.

2. Stop Trading Time for Money

When it comes to walking the path to financial freedom, Robbins frequently talks about the issue of trading time for money. “If you work for a living, you’re trading your time for money,” he wrote in an article for Entrepreneur magazine.
“Frankly, it’s just about the worst trade you’ll ever make in life: You can always get more money, but you can’t get more time,” he wrote. “In the end, it doesn’t matter how much money you earn. If you don’t set aside some, you could lose it all…This is the first and most important step in putting yourself on the road to financial freedom. Take that step today.”
In essence, you can’t quit your job today, but you can start saving today. If there is a business you want to start or something you want to spend all your time doing, he advised to start saving now. The more money you save, the faster you can focus on the things you want to spend your time doing.

3. Practice Gratitude

This is sometimes an easily overlooked step, especially in difficult times. However, it can have a great positive impact on your life when you follow it.
In his book, “MONEY Master the Game,” Robbins quoted Sir John Templeton, whom he called one of “the greatest investors in history.” In an interview with marketing expert Lewis Howes, Robbins said Templeton told him: “If you have nothing, but you’re euphorically grateful for whatever you have, you’re the richest person you’re ever going to know.”
Robbins said he makes gratitude a part of his morning routine. Every morning, he spends some time thinking of the things in his life that he is grateful for, which helps him start his day. Anyone can start this practice, and the great thing is that it’s simple. To keep things consistent and make this a habit, you can even start a gratitude journal.

4. Be a Disciplined Investor

Robbins revealed his best piece of financial advice in an interview for Money. “Don’t think in terms of taking huge risks to get huge rewards,” he said. “Think about the least amount of risk for the greatest reward, and be disciplined about that.”
He cited Richard Branson as a great example of someone who takes great risks in life, but not in his finances. Instead, he said it’s very important to know what the downside is to an investment, and to have a plan to protect yourself from the potential downside. 5. Don’t Be Afraid to Fail

Although it’s not uncommon to fear failure, Robbins has a different take on it. “Unfortunately, we’re programmed to fear this thing called ‘failure,’ so we try everything we can to avoid it, which is pointless,” he told Success magazine. “Failure is often necessary for real learning to occur.”

Robbins told Bloomberg Business that the best piece of advice he ever got came from his mentor, Jim Rohn. “Find a way to add more value than anybody else does, and you’ll never have to worry about anything,” Rohn told him. “Every day, work harder on yourself than anything else, because if you become more intelligent, more valuable, more skilled — you can add more value to other people.”
The same lesson can be applied to your life and finances. Essentially, by becoming more knowledgeable and savvy with your expertise or your money, the more people you can help, as long as you have a giving spirit.

7. Save Automatically

Growing your savings is a very important part of living rich. “The majority of us have this thought process… that today is more important than tomorrow,” he told the OWN Network. However, it’s that mindset that can lead you not to save enough, or at all.
Therefore, in order to “trick yourself” into saving for tomorrow, Robbins said it’s important to save automatically. Talk to your employer about putting a certain percentage of every raise into your retirement account. If it happens automatically without you thinking about it, the money will just start to accumulate and hopefully grow due to the power of compound interest.

8. Give What You Don’t Think You Can Give

Being generous is another big key to living rich, no matter what your income. “If you don’t give a dime out of a dollar, you’re not going to give a million out of 10 million…[Generosity] teaches your brain there’s more than enough when you’ll give what you don’t think you can give,” he said in an interview with Brendon Burchard, an author on motivation and online marketing.
One way this can have a positive impact on your finances is that it can show you how to live on a lesser amount of money, and make you more astute when it comes to managing your finances. In addition to that, giving back to your community and helping those in need can give you a greater sense of connection with people, and help you cultivate gratitude in your own life and on a bigger scale.

At 25, there was nothing in my bank and I needed to provide for my family. As I was considering what to do, I met John Earl Shoaff, a wealthy entrepreneur who became my employer for the next five years. He revolutionized my life and taught me the importance of developing my personal philosophy, to look for those few things that make the most difference and to spend most of my time doing those things. It isn’t a complex or mystical process but a principle that can make a difference in how your life turns out.


While there are many puzzle pieces for success, without developing a sound philosophy the other pieces are of little value. So as you go forward on this journey toward success, remember to:


1. Set your sail.

The winds of circumstance blow upon all of us. We all have experienced the winds of disappointment, despair and heartbreak, but why do people arrive at such different places at the end of the journey? Have we not all sailed upon the same sea?


The major difference isn’t circumstance; it’s the set of the sail, or the way we think—it’s what we do after we’ve set our sails and the wind decides to change direction. When the winds change, we must change. We have to struggle to our feet and reset the sail in a manner that will steer us in the direction of our own deliberate choice. The set of the sail, or how we think and how we respond, has a far greater capacity to destroy our lives than any challenges we face. How quickly we respond to adversity is far more important than adversity itself.


The great challenge of life is to control the process of our own thinking.


2. Learn from success and failure.

The best way to establish a new and powerful personal philosophy is to objectively review the conclusions you’ve drawn about life. Any conclusion you’ve drawn that isn’t working for you could be working against you. The best way to counteract misinformation and wrong data is to input new and accurate information. Gather information from personal experience. If you’re doing something wrong, evaluate what you did wrong and change things.


Seek an objective, outside voice about how you are and what you’re doing. An objective opinion from someone you respect can lead you to early and accurate information about your decision-making process. Listen to the freshness of an outside voice—someone who can see the forest and isn’t lost in the trees.


Observe the successes and failures of other people. If people who failed were to give seminars, it would be helpful. You could see how people mess up and you wouldn’t do what they did. Past failures and errors prompt us to amend current conduct so we don’t replicate the past.


Study from people who do well. Each of us should be in a constant search for people we admire and respect and whose behavior we can model. It’s far better to deliberately choose the people we will permit to influence us than to allow bad influences to affect us without our conscious choice.

 

3. Read all you can.

People from all walks of life who’ve had some of the most incredible experiences have taken the time to write of these experiences so we can be instructed and amend our philosophies.


The contributions of other people enable us to reset our sails based upon their experiences. Books offer treasures of information that can change our lives, fortunes, relationships, health and careers for the better.


There are two books you need to read to build your philosophy: Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill and The Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason.


4. Keep a journal.

A journal is a gathering place for all of our observations and discoveries about life. It’s our own handwritten transcript that captures our experiences, ideas, desires and conclusions about the people and the events that have touched our lives. The past, when properly documented, is one of the best guides for making good decisions.


The very act of writing about our lives helps us think more objectively about our actions. Writing tends to slow down the flow of information and gives us time to analyze and ponder the experience. The intense scrutiny of journal writing can enable us to make refinements in our philosophy that are truly life-changing.


Jot down what you learn and be a buyer of empty books. It’s the small disciplines that lead to great accomplishments.


5. Observe and listen.

Pay attention during your day, watch what’s going on. Surround yourself with people you respect and admire. Find people whose personalities and achievements stimulate, fascinate and inspire you, and then strive to assimilate their best qualities. This is called the skill of selecting. Don’t waste your time on the silly and the shallow.


One of the major reasons people don’t do well is because they keep trying to get through the day while a more worthy cause is to get from the day. We must become sensitive enough to observe and ponder what is happening around us. Be alert. Be awake. Often the most extraordinary opportunities are hidden among seemingly insignificant events.


Be a good listener. Find a voice of value and stay for a while. With so many voices vying for your attention, you need to develop the skill of selective listening and only dial into the radio station that appeals to you. If a voice is not leading to the achievement of your goals, exercise caution in how long you listen.


6. Be disciplined.

Every day is filled with dozens of personal crossroads, moments when we’re called upon to make a decision regarding minor as well as major questions. These decisions chart a path to a future destination. With careful mental preparation, we can make wise choices.


The development of a sound philosophy prepares us for making sound decisions. When we eat healthy foods, we experience positive results in a short time. When we start exercising, we feel a new vitality almost immediately. When we begin reading, we experience a growing awareness and a new level of self-confidence.


New disciplines practiced daily will produce exciting results. The magic of new disciplines causes us to amend our thinking.


7. Don’t neglect.

Neglect is the major reason people don’t have what they want. If you don’t take care of things in your life, neglect becomes a disease. If you neglect to do good things with your money, you probably neglect to do good things with your time. If you don’t know what’s going on with your health or your bank account, you could be at risk.


Set up new disciplines to change your life. Don’t neglect. Everything is within our reach if we will read books, use journals, practice the disciplines and wage a new and vigorous battle against neglect.


Build your philosophy. Commit yourself to a new journey and say, I’m going to change my life. Once you do, you’ll never look back.

We’ve all felt it. It starts when you have good a routine going and you get into a nice, comfortable rhythm. Newness and uncertainty, any kind of change really is scary, so we work to squelch them. We strive to get past the crazy ups and downs of beginnings: Will she? Won’t she? What did that mean? What should I say? We long for a plateau.

But plateaus are flat and predictable. Over time, your fire for life fizzles, your drive at work slows, your passionate relationship starts to lose its fire. And then you wake up one day, realizing you’ve been on autopilot for months or even years. You’ve become complacent.

The interesting problem here is that we can’t get a new job each week. Who really wants that? And the agony of new and scary? Roller coasters are only fun for a day, not every day.

Tony Robbins, life and business strategist to presidents, Olympians, celebrities and the rest of us, taught me an interesting solution to that problem. In our interview, he explains how you can push yourself past this complacency by playing without a safety net.

If you’ve seen his new documentary, Tony Robbins: I Am Not Your Guru, on Netflix, you’ll see how he does this. At every seminar, he approaches audience members to talk through their problems on the spot. We watch him help a daughter work through what she believed were diet issues, which turned out to be deep-rooted tensions with her father. We witness him solve deep, decade-long issues in real time, in front of thousands of watching, hopeful eyes. He’s been in the same industry, doing the job he’s done for more 30 years, but using his gifts under extreme pressure, over and over again.

You might be thinking, But what does that mean for me? I am not about to do that!

And you shouldn’t.

But you do need to ask yourself, How can I put myself in a do-or-die situation with my gifts and talents this week?

Here are some examples:


  • The boss asks for a volunteer to tackle an intense, high-pressure project and you wouldn’t normally raise your hand—it’s go time. Get your hand up.
  • If you’re the boss, when is the last time you held open office hours and let anyone come in and ask you anything, pushing you to provide them with answers on the spot?
  • Perhaps you are a writer but you’ve never done a live reading at a mic night, or never pushed yourself to write for a major publication or for someone else’s blog. Maybe it’s time to tighten your deadlines.
  • If you’re a singer who has never done anything outside of church on Sundays, grab your guitar and go find a street corner downtown.
  • If you’re a problem solver, tell your boss, publicly or in writing, that you can get it done a week earlier than you normally would.
  • If you’re in sales, commit to a higher quota this month.
  • If you create video content for your followers, do a live stream broadcast with them instead.
  • If you’re a speaker with a few set speeches, swap out the usual ending for live Q&A.


Does it make you feel uneasy to read those ideas? That’s normal. That uneasiness is the first step before excitement. The passion that comes after excitement is the momentum you need to get past the plateau of complacency. Suddenly you’re waking up supercharged, feeling hopeful and inspired.

I know this method works because I’ve used it in my own life.


Instead of a safe, audio-only podcast, I chose to put my gifts to the test and launch a traveling, in-person talk show. Within 18 months, I was sitting down with Tony Robbins. Next week I will interview Larry King. Larry King. I set deadlines with my distributors and make public announcements to maintain this crazy speed. Sure, I spend a decent chunk of time feeling that nervous nausea you feel as a coaster click-click-clicks up the track. But those cameras turn on, the guest gets mic’d up and the coaster is moving. There’s no stopping it now. Since launching my show, the passion and excitement has spread into all other areas of my life, I’ve lost two dress sizes, I am more intentional with my husband and daughter, I write more than ever before, I am present with my friends… the list goes on.

Trust me, the ups and downs, the stomach flips, they’re worth it. The world doesn’t need more comfortable bystanders, drifting on autopilot. We desperately need you at your best, giving this world your best work. You can’t do that from a stale state of complacency, so try this exercise this week!
